Record Go is a Spanish rental company with its own offices next to Faro, Lisbon and Porto airports in Portugal. If you are looking up Record Go Faro airport details, you probably want practical answers before you land: where the shuttle waits, which rate to choose, how much is held on your card, and how the full tank and the Portuguese tolls are settled when you bring the car back. This guide answers each of those for Faro and Lisbon, with a shorter section on Porto, using Record Go’s own terms and airport pages.

We checked the rules below on 1 October 2026 on recordrentacar.com, unless a source says otherwise. Record Go publishes separate terms for each country: the amounts here are the ones for Portugal and do not automatically apply to its offices in Spain, Italy or Greece.

Record Go at a glance

The brand calls itself Record go Mobility. Its website names Record-go Alquiler Vacacional S.A. as the holder, entered in the Castellón commercial register in Spain on 14 June 2002. It describes a team of more than 700 people and its own offices at holiday airports and cities in Spain, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Italy and Greece.

In Portugal, all three offices sit just outside the airport and are reached with a free Record Go shuttle. In reviews, travellers often praise the friendly staff and clean, recent cars. You book a car group such as Mini or Compact, not a specific model, unless you add the Car choice extra, which lets you pick from the models available in your group.

Basic Go, Just Go and Just Go Airport compared

Record Go’s Portuguese terms list three web rates. All three include a full-to-full fuel system, free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup and unlimited mileage. They differ in three ways:

Basic GoJust GoJust Go Airport
CoverBasic cover with an excessTotal Comfort CoverTotal Comfort Cover
PickupStandardExpress pickupMeet and Greet at the airport
Roadside assistanceBasicBasicPremium

Basic Go is the rate Record Go calls its most affordable: collision and theft cover with an excess that depends on the model. The address of Record Go’s own rate page still uses the older name Go Easy, so you may come across that name as well.

Just Go is the rate Record Go calls its most complete: Total Comfort Cover with no excess, full-to-full fuel and express pickup, which Record Go describes as being served first at the counter, without queuing.

Just Go Airport adds Meet and Greet, where staff hand over the car and finish the contract at the airport so you do not travel to the office, plus premium roadside assistance. According to the terms, that includes free on-site repair labour, towing and a replacement car at the nearest Record Go office, subject to availability.

What Total Comfort Cover includes

Section 4.3.4 of the Portuguese terms lists collision and theft damage, plus damage to tyres (including punctures), rims, mirrors, windscreens, locks and the battery, and basic roadside assistance. It covers only drivers named on the rental agreement, and only during the rental period, so a late return makes it void.

Basic roadside assistance runs 24 hours a day but is always charged. Towing within the province where you rented the car is listed at €237; outside it, the fee rises with distance.

Deposit and excess per car group in Portugal

With basic cover, Record Go blocks a pre-authorisation on your card and you carry an excess, the most you pay if the car is damaged or stolen. The Portuguese table:

Car groupExcess, basic coverPre-authorisation, basic coverExcess and pre-authorisation, Total Comfort
Mini, Economy€1,300€1,100€0 / €0
Compact and most Intermediate€1,600€1,400€0 / €0
Intermediate codes JGAH, IGAH, IXAH€2,000€1,800€0 / €0
People carrier, Premium€2,200€2,000€0 / €0

Codes such as JGAH are ACRISS codes, the four-letter codes Record Go uses for its car groups (MBMR, for example, is a manual Mini). The payment section of the terms also mentions a possible pre-authorisation of up to €1,000 for PREMIUM and PEOPLE CARRIER cars, and the fuel charge and €100 toll hold described below apply with every rate.

Record Go says the pre-authorisation is released as soon as the car has been returned and checked, but depending on your bank it can take up to 30 calendar days to show on your statement.

If you rely on separate excess insurance, for example from a booking site or your credit card, Record Go’s FAQ says you choose at the desk: take Total Comfort Cover, or leave the deposit for your car group. More in our guide to excess and deposit.

Cards the Portuguese offices accept

Under section 6.1 of the Portuguese terms, Record Go accepts Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, EC-Karte, Girocard and UnionPay. Prepaid cards are accepted only if you also present a credit card, and American Express only if you take Total Comfort Cover. Bookings for PREMIUM cars and bookings with the electronic toll extra accept credit cards only.

One card per contract is allowed, in the contract holder’s name, and the holder must be present to pay. With a debit card, the terms state that the pre-authorisation amount is charged rather than blocked, so the money leaves your account until it is refunded. Because the Via Verde toll service is activated on every rental in Portugal, a credit card in the contract holder’s name, with room for the deposit and the toll hold, is the most straightforward card to bring.

Full-to-full at Record Go: how the tank is settled

All three Portuguese rates use full-to-full, settled like this:

  1. At pickup you receive a full tank, and Record Go charges you for it at the official fuel price on the day of pickup.
  2. At return the fuel level is measured in eighths of the tank, and Record Go refunds the fuel still in it.
  3. To count as full, you show a receipt from a petrol station no more than 10 km from the airport.
  4. If the car is not full, a refuelling service of €24 applies. Record Go’s FAQ adds that without a valid receipt the tank is settled at seven eighths (checked 30 September 2026).

So refuel close to the airport just before your return, keep the receipt, and photograph the fuel gauge next to the mileage. More on fuel rules in general in our fuel policy guide.

Electric cars are handed over fully charged, with a €40 “Electric Charge” pre-authorisation. Return with at least 80% battery and the €40 comes back in full; between 20% and 80% you pay €20; at 20% or less the €40 is kept, and extra towing or breakdown charges may apply.

Via Verde tolls with a Record Go car

Many Portuguese roads have fully electronic tolls without booths. Since 8 January 2023, Decree-Law 84-C/2022 has required every car rented without a driver in Portugal to carry a Via Verde identifier. At Record Go, the toll service switches on automatically when you sign the contract and ends when you return the car.

  • Service fee: if you use the service, €2.23 per rental day, up to €22.26 per contract.
  • Tolls: charged on top of the fee; both are billed when you return the car.
  • Card hold: €100 pre-authorisation for tolls. The unused part is released after settlement, which can take up to 30 calendar days depending on your bank.
  • The device: leave it where it is installed. Loss, theft or damage costs €30.

Record Go Faro airport: from arrivals to the office

The Faro office is a short shuttle ride from the terminal. Record Go’s Faro page gives these directions:

  1. Leave the terminal through the gate signed for car parks P1, P4 and P5.
  2. Continue to the passenger pick-up point behind the outdoor terrace.
  3. The Record Go shuttle is parked in the first row.
  4. Record Go asks you to call the office after landing to avoid waiting; the number is on its Faro page.

After signing, the car park is just outside the office, at Estrada do Aeroporto, Monte Cheles, Montenegro, 8005-143 Faro.

Opening hours: 07:00 to 22:59, with shorter hours on some special days (on Christmas Eve the office closes at 19:59). One rule is specific to Faro: returns are accepted during office hours only, while Lisbon and Porto accept returns around the clock. If your flight home leaves before 07:00, return the car the evening before.

Record Go at Lisbon airport: the Terminal 1 shuttle

The Lisbon office is next to the airport. The official route from Terminal 1:

  1. After the door into the public arrivals area, go down the ramp to the right.
  2. Leave the terminal through exit number 4, next to the Vodafone store.
  3. Cross the first traffic lane at the pedestrian crossing.
  4. On your right is the green Aerobus stop, where the free Record Go shuttle waits. The ride to the office takes less than 10 minutes.

Office hours are 07:00 to 22:59, and Lisbon accepts returns 24 hours a day.

Porto, one-way trips and driving into Spain

Porto. From the ground-floor arrivals hall, leave through the exit behind the Relay store, cross the first lane at the pedestrian crossing a few metres to your left, and find the airport information panel on the central median. The shuttle waits there and takes less than 10 minutes. Hours are 07:00 to 22:59, with returns around the clock: if you return outside office hours, the Porto page asks you to leave the keys in the Record Go key box.

One way within Portugal. A car normally goes back to the office where you collected it. With the paid One Way extra, Record Go allows a return to a different office, but only the one named in your contract and never one outside Portugal.

Spain. Cross-border driving is not allowed as standard. With the Cross-border extra, bought for the whole rental, Record Go may authorise driving in Spain, but never to or between islands.

Age, licence and who must be at the desk

  • Minimum age: 19. Record Go’s FAQ states there is no maximum age (checked 30 September 2026).
  • Aged 19 or 20: Mini, Mini Electric, Economy and Compact only, with a junior driver supplement of €10.95 per day, up to €131.40 per rental.
  • Aged 21 to 24: all groups, €9.95 per day, up to €119.40; €25 per day, up to €300, for PREMIUM and PEOPLE CARRIER.
  • Additional driver: €10.50 per driver per day, up to €126; €12 per day, up to €144, for PREMIUM and PEOPLE CARRIER.
  • Documents: a physical ID card (EU residents) or passport, and your original driving licence, held for at least one year. A licence that is not in Roman characters needs an international driving licence or a sworn translation. Photocopies are not accepted.
  • Who must attend: the booking holder and the main driver. Additional drivers need not come, but the holder must show their documents in person.

If your flight is late: a direct booking is held for 24 hours after the pickup time, a booking through an intermediary for 6 business hours, both subject to availability. Add your flight number, and if you expect to be more than an hour late, let Record Go know.

At the counter and in the car park

  1. Before leaving the parking space, compare the car with the damage marked in the “Vehicle delivery and return” section of the contract. The terms ask you to report any difference then and sign the pickup section.
  2. Photograph all sides, the wheels, the windscreen and the dashboard with the full tank and mileage.
  3. Check that the Via Verde device is in place.
  4. At return, keep your fuel receipt and repeat the photos. Record Go allows a 60-minute courtesy period on the return time, set when you sign the contract and choose the return time. If you will be later, tell the office.
