Car hire Casablanca airport: Terminal 1 desk and deposit
Some buttons on this page link to vrooem.com, where you compare and book the offer of international rental companies. Our guides are written independently.
Car hire Casablanca airport works differently from Marrakech, Agadir or Tangier. At those airports, Green Motion and U-Save send a representative with a sign board to the terminal exit and take you by shuttle bus to their office. At Mohammed V (CMN), their office is inside Terminal 1, in the airport’s own train station. EMR, the third company Vrooem offers at Mohammed V, sets out its pickup in your booking. This guide covers how to find that desk, what to do if you land in Terminal 2 or after 23:00, the city branch on Rue d’Agadir, which card the deposit needs, and the motorways that take you from the airport to Rabat, El Jadida or Marrakech.
Everything below comes from official sources checked on 1 October 2026: the companies’ Moroccan terms and location data, the airport’s website run by ONDA, Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), Morocco’s national tourism office and GOV.UK. Green Motion’s Moroccan terms apply to bookings on its own website; a booking through a third party follows the rental voucher. So when you book through Vrooem, the conditions on your offer and voucher have the final word.
Car hire Casablanca airport: the desk inside Terminal 1
Mohammed V lies in the commune of Nouaceur. The airport’s access page puts it 27 kilometres from downtown Casablanca and advises allowing 30 to 50 minutes by road, depending on traffic. It has two passenger terminals, and each has its own exit to the public hall.
The pickup instruction that Green Motion and U-Save publish for Casablanca Airport is short: the office is “located inside Terminal 1, within the train station (Gare ONCF)”. The airport places that station in the basement of Terminal 1, with direct access to the concourse. Both brands give the same address, phone numbers and reservations email, so whichever name is on your voucher, you go to the same counter.
| Company | Where you collect the car | Opening hours |
|---|---|---|
| Green Motion | Office inside Terminal 1, in the ONCF train station | 07:00 to 23:00, every day, bank holidays included |
| U-Save | The same office inside Terminal 1 | 07:00 to 23:00, every day, bank holidays included |
| EMR | Office listed at Mohammed V airport, as shown in the offer | As stated with your booking |
The location data also marks the branch as taking no walk-in rentals, so book before you fly.
How the arrival goes, step by step:
- Before you fly, save the branch phone numbers from your voucher and check which terminal your flight uses.
- After passport control and baggage, go through customs at the exit of the baggage hall: the green channel if you have nothing to declare, the red one if you do.
- Head for the train station in Terminal 1. If you landed in Terminal 2, make your way over to Terminal 1 first.
- At the counter, show your voucher, licence, passport or national ID card and the card for the deposit, then walk round the car with the agent.
EMR lists a Casablanca office at Mohammed V on its own website, and its pickup details come with your booking confirmation.
Late flights, delays and a night in the city
The office keeps the same hours seven days a week, 07:00 to 23:00, so a late arrival is the main thing to plan around.
- Out of hours: both Moroccan terms treat a pickup or return outside opening hours as a request that cannot be guaranteed, with an extra fee where the branch agrees. Contact the branch before you travel if your flight is due close to 23:00.
- Delayed flights: Green Motion holds a reservation for 2.5 hours after the booked pickup time and U-Save for 3 hours; after that it counts as a no-show. Both terms treat your flight number as information only, so tell the branch yourself if you are running late.
- A night in the city first: the airport says its taxi rank on the arrivals forecourt operates around the clock, and that trains generally run from 06:50 to 22:50, taking about 30 minutes to Casa-Voyageurs. If you know you will land after the office closes, it can be simpler to book your pickup for the next morning, at the airport or at the city branch below.
Staying in Casablanca first? The branch on Rue d’Agadir
Plenty of trips to Casablanca start with a few days in the city: business meetings, family visits, or the Hassan II Mosque, which the tourism office describes as built on the water. For those days you hardly need a car. Green Motion’s Casablanca page advises parking outside the medina and exploring it on foot, and warns that local driving can be aggressive, with traffic rules not always strictly followed.
That is where the city branch helps. Green Motion and U-Save run Casablanca Downtown at 36 Rue d’Agadir, with these hours according to their location data:
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 19:00
- Saturday: 08:00 to 12:00
- Sunday and bank holidays: closed
A Sunday departure from the city therefore does not work from this branch: collect on Saturday morning, or start from the airport. The location data lists Casablanca Airport among its return points, but both Moroccan terms treat a return at another branch as a one-way rental with an extra fee where it is offered, so check the return location on your booking before you pay. In Vrooem’s search of 1 October 2026 for a week in November, Casablanca Downtown showed 55 cars from U-Save and Green Motion, 39 of them automatics.
Before you set off, the tourism office points to the old medina, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, the Habous quarter and the Ain Diab corniche, with its private beaches and water sports right in the city.
Deposit and cards: what the desk blocks
“Car rental Casablanca airport no deposit” is one of the phrases Google suggests for this airport. With Green Motion and U-Save, every package carries a deposit, but its size depends heavily on the package you choose. It is a pre-authorisation on the main driver’s card, not a payment: the money stays in your account but is unavailable until your bank releases it, usually 5 to 15 days after the rental according to both sets of terms, sometimes longer.
For the entry-level car groups (Green Motion MR-A and MR-B, U-Save MR-UA and MR-UB), the Moroccan terms set these levels. Larger car groups carry higher amounts, so check the line for your group on the offer.
| Package | Green Motion: excess / deposit | U-Save: excess / deposit |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | MAD 17,500 / MAD 17,500 | MAD 17,000 / MAD 17,000 |
| Plus | MAD 9,000 / MAD 9,000 | MAD 8,500 / MAD 8,500 |
| Premium | MAD 4,750 / MAD 4,750 | MAD 4,250 / MAD 4,250 |
| Premium Plus | MAD 0 / MAD 2,500 | MAD 0 / MAD 2,000 |
The card rules are almost the same at both companies:
- Visa or Mastercard, in the main driver’s name, with enough funds to cover the excess.
- Valid for at least 2 months beyond the return date.
- American Express, Diners and prepaid cards are not accepted.
- Debit cards: U-Save accepts one for the deposit only with Premium Plus. Green Motion’s payment table lists debit cards as accepted, and its package summary names them as a Premium Plus feature. Without a credit card, Premium Plus is the safe choice with either brand.
- If someone else paid for the booking with their card, the desk may ask for proof of that person’s permission.
Premium Plus is also the only package in both terms where glass and tyres are covered. If you buy excess insurance from another company, both terms say the deposit for your package is still blocked, and any damage is paid to the rental company first and claimed back from that insurer afterwards. For EMR, the deposit for each car is shown with the offer before you book. Our guide to excess and deposit explains how the two amounts work together, and Green Motion vs U-Save explains how the two sister brands relate.
Licence, passport and age at the counter
Green Motion and U-Save ask for the same documents in Morocco:
- Driving licence: the original physical card, held for at least 1 year. Digital licences are not accepted.
- Alphabet: the licence must be in English, Latin or Roman script; otherwise an international driving permit is required as well.
- Photo ID: a passport or national identity card.
- Without them: the reservation is cancelled at the desk without a refund.
For UK drivers, GOV.UK adds a firm rule: carry the 1968 international driving permit with your UK licence. Morocco no longer accepts the 1949 version, and you cannot buy a permit outside the UK. Other nationalities should check with their own licensing authority, and our checklist of documents for renting a car abroad covers the rest.
The minimum age is 23 at both companies, with no upper limit; drivers aged 23 to 25 or 65 and over pay a daily surcharge.
Automatic, SUV or seven seats: what the airport offered
In Vrooem’s search of 1 October 2026, for a rental from 4 to 11 November, Mohammed V showed 39 cars from EMR, 30 from Green Motion and 30 from U-Save. Of those 99 cars, 68 were automatics, useful if you would rather not handle a manual gearbox in Casablanca traffic.
- Green Motion and U-Save listed largely the same range, from the Hyundai i10 to the Hyundai Tucson and a “Range Rover Sport, Volkswagen Touareg or similar” group, plus the 7-seat Dacia Jogger, the 9-seat Renault Trafic and Fiat Scudo, hybrids and electric cars.
- EMR listed models such as the Dacia Sandero, Peugeot 3008, Hyundai Tucson and a Range Rover.
- Make and model: both terms say an “or similar” group is not guaranteed; only “make and model guaranteed” groups are, such as the Dacia Sandero, the automatic Dacia Logan and the 9-seat Renault Trafic in this search.
- Mileage: Green Motion and U-Save include unlimited kilometres, and the car must stay in Morocco. Most of EMR’s offers carried a limit of 1,750 km for the 7-day rental, so check that line if you plan a long loop.
Torn between gearboxes? Read automatic or manual.
Fuel and the return at Terminal 1
The fuel rule depends on the package, identically at both companies:
| Package | Fuel rule |
|---|---|
| Basic and Plus | Like for like: return the level you received |
| Premium and Premium Plus | Full to full |
Missing fuel is charged per litre plus a refuelling fee, and the branch may reserve a fuel deposit on your card. The airport notes a petrol station close by, open 24 hours, and Green Motion’s page points to several more along the N9 towards the city. Our fuel policy guide explains the difference.
At the end of the trip:
- Bring the car back to the office in the Terminal 1 station before 23:00. Both terms allow 59 minutes of grace after the agreed time; beyond that an extra charge follows.
- Both terms state that a short-term rental has no margin for wear and tear, so film the bodywork, wheels and windscreen at pickup and at return.
- Have the car checked with you, keep the final report, and if your flight home leaves from Terminal 2, allow time to get there.
Driving out of the airport: the A3, the A1 and the tolls
The airport sits right on the A3, the motorway that ADM runs from Casablanca to Agadir. ADM places the airport interchange at kilometre point 13.1, between Bouskoura towards the city and Berrechid further south.
- South to Marrakech: the A3 continues past Berrechid, Settat and Benguerir to the Marrakech junction at kilometre point 198.8, then on to Agadir. ADM notes that the Casablanca to Berrechid stretch is being widened, and at Berrechid the A4 branches off towards Beni Mellal.
- North to Rabat: the A1 runs around Casablanca on a 34 km bypass, then reaches Rabat on a 62 km section with three lanes each way since December 2012.
- South-west to El Jadida and Safi: the same A1 continues via Azemmour to El Jadida, and since 2016 on to Safi, with an exit for Oualidia.
Morocco’s national tourism office gives these distances from Casablanca:
| From Casablanca to | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Rabat | 86.9 km | about 1 h |
| El Jadida (Mazagan) | 105.9 km | about 1 h 25 min |
| Meknes | 238.1 km | about 2 h 45 min |
El Jadida is the easiest day out: a Portuguese-built city on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with a vaulted cistern that film lovers may recognise from Orson Welles’s “Othello” and the beaches of Haouzia and Sidi Bouzid nearby. Rabat has the Kasbah of the Oudayas, the Merinid necropolis of Chellah and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Heading further south? Our guides to Marrakech and Agadir take over from there.
At ADM toll booths you can pay with the Jawaz electronic pass, a bank card, ADM’s network card or cash. Ask at the counter whether your car carries a Jawaz pass; if not, use the card or cash lanes, and carry some dirhams as Green Motion advises. For a breakdown or accident on the motorway, ADM’s number 5050 is posted every 10 to 12 km and answers 24 hours a day.
Road rules and safety
Morocco drives on the right, as U-Save’s Casablanca page reminds visitors. Green Motion’s Casablanca page gives the general limits as 60 km/h in towns, 100 km/h on secondary roads and 120 km/h on motorways; where the signs show otherwise, follow the signs. GOV.UK adds:
- Alcohol: drink-driving is a serious offence; if a test finds any alcohol in your system, you face a fine and possibly prison.
- Night driving: poor lighting can make driving after dark dangerous, so stay alert to pedestrians, other vehicles and animals.
- Motorways: watch for overloaded lorries, and for trucks overtaking where there is no hard shoulder.
- Emergency numbers: ambulance and fire 150, police 190, Gendarmerie 177.
After an accident. GOV.UK advises completing a “constat amiable”, an accident form signed by both parties. The Moroccan terms of Green Motion and U-Save also require you to contact the rental office straight away, obtain a police or accident report and photograph the scene with the vehicles involved, whatever package you chose. Without those documents the cover can be lost. Both terms also make the driver liable for the full damage after off-road driving.
Booking car hire at Casablanca airport on Vrooem
At Mohammed V, Vrooem offers Green Motion, U-Save and EMR, and in the city Green Motion and U-Save at Rue d’Agadir. For Green Motion and U-Save, all four packages are shown before you pay, so you choose your excess, deposit and card rule at home rather than at the counter. For EMR, check the deposit and mileage lines shown with each car. Every Vrooem booking also includes a free travel eSIM, so you have mobile data the moment you land to call the branch.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the car hire desk at Casablanca airport?
Green Motion and U-Save share one office inside Terminal 1 at Mohammed V, within the airport's ONCF train station, which the airport places in the basement of Terminal 1. There is no shuttle bus to catch. For EMR, follow the pickup details on your booking confirmation.
What if my flight lands at Casablanca after 23:00?
The Green Motion and U-Save airport office is open from 07:00 to 23:00 every day. Out-of-hours pickups are on request, cannot be guaranteed and carry an extra fee where accepted, so contact the branch before you fly. Taxis wait at the arrivals area around the clock, according to the airport.
Is there car rental at Casablanca airport with no deposit?
Not with Green Motion or U-Save. Their Moroccan terms block a deposit with every package. Premium Plus keeps it lowest, at MAD 2,500 (Green Motion) or MAD 2,000 (U-Save) for the entry-level car groups, with zero excess.
Can I use a debit card for the deposit in Casablanca?
With U-Save, only if you choose Premium Plus. Green Motion's Moroccan terms list debit cards as accepted for the deposit and name it again as a Premium Plus feature. American Express, Diners and prepaid cards are not accepted by either company.
Can I pick up my hire car in Casablanca city instead of at the airport?
Yes. Green Motion and U-Save run a city branch at 36 Rue d'Agadir, open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 08:00 to 12:00, closed on Sundays and bank holidays. On Vrooem it appears as Casablanca Downtown.
Do UK drivers need an international driving permit in Morocco?
Yes. GOV.UK says UK drivers must carry the 1968 international driving permit together with their UK licence, that Morocco no longer accepts the 1949 version, and that you cannot buy a permit outside the UK.
How far is Rabat or El Jadida from Casablanca by car?
Morocco's national tourism office puts Rabat at 86.9 km from Casablanca, about an hour's drive, and El Jadida at 105.9 km, about 1 hour 25 minutes. Both lie on the A1 motorway.
